Hawaii island police have charged a 32-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of two people Monday at Wailoa State Park.

According to police, officers responding to a 12:21 a.m. call found a 27-year-old man with a stab wound to the throat and a 24-year-old woman with a cut on her right leg. The pair indicated that they had been invovled in an argument with another man. Both victims were transported to Hilo Medical Center.

Police located David Bars, who matched the description of the suspect, walking along nearby Piilani Street and arrested him.

Bars was charged Monday afternoon with attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault.
