Man arrested for allegedly trying to strangle woman at Kakaako homeless camp
A 34-year-old homeless man is in custody after he allegedly tried to strangle a household member during an argument at the Kakaako homeless camp site Tuesday.
Police said the incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday near Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center on Ohe Street.
The couple were arguing when the suspect allegedly grabbed the 34-year-old woman’s throat and tried to strangle her.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree abuse.
The incidents of violent attacks allegedly involving residents of the homeless camp near the Children’s Discovery Center have increased as the more homeless people move into the area.
