Maui fire personnel rescued three hikers who were stranded by flood waters at the Bamboo Forest Trail on Sunday.

Firefighters responding to a 1:25 p.m. emergency call were directed from people coming off the trail, who said that the three hikers were trapped on the Kahului side of the stream. A Maui Fire Department helicopter located the hikers — two men and a woman — and airlifted them to a landing zone established at a pasture near Hana Highway.

No injuries were reported.
