The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified a 79-year-old pedestrian who died Wednesday after she was hit by a vehicle on Kamehameha Highway as Ramona Dela Cruz, of Hauula.

An autopsy was being conducted Thursday.

Emergency Medical Services said Dela Cruz was hit about 7 p.m. in Hauula and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and later died.

Police closed Kamehameha Highway in Hauula in both directions following the pedestrian accident and detoured traffic to Kawaipapa Street until the road reopened by 11 p.m.
