Medical examiner identifies 2 men who died in water accidents

The medical examiner identified two men who died over the weekend in two separate water accidents. 

Hung Tran, 76, of Denver, Colo., died Saturday at a local hospital where he was taken on Aug. 31 after being found unresponsive in the ocean near Kapolei. 

Eben Maikui, Jr., 52, of Waipahu, died Monday after he fell in the water off Ala Moana Beach. Maikui was unresponsive at 1:25 p.m. when he was taken in critical condition to the hospital, where he died. 

He was found in the area of the canoe hale at Ala Moana Beach Park. 

The cause of death of the two men are pending the outcome of separate autopsies.
