A 17-year-old girl was arrested Saturday morning after she punched her mother while her mother was carrying a 2-year-old boy, police said.
The incident occurred after the girl and the 35-year-old woman had an argument about 12:50 a.m. in Kapolei.
The girl fled after punching her mother, police said.
The woman was carrying her son at the time and felt pain from the incident.
Officers found the girl nearby and arrested her for investigation of felony abuse of a family member while a child under 14 is present.
The charges were later reclassified to misdemeanor abuse.
