An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured Sunday afternoon following a 40-foot fall at the so-called Kalihi ice ponds.
The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.
The woman was transported by paramedics to a local trauma center.
The area is closed to hikers but many hike there illegally.
