Small earthquakes rock Hawaii island

A series of small earthquakes rocked Hawaii island today, the largest at magnitude-3.9, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

That quake was reported at 8:41 p.m. with an epicenter about 10 miles south of Fern Acres.

Four of the five, including that one, occured along the coast south of Kilauea Volcano.

Three earthquakes at magnitude-2.6 were reported, the first at 12:09 a.m. about 4 miles north-northeast of Pahala.

The second and third were both centered about 12 miles southwest of Leilani Estates, one at 8:53 p.m. at a depth of  1.1 miles and the second at 9 p.m. at a depth of 3.7 miles.

A magnitude-2.8 quake shook the island at 7:55 p.m. in the same location.
