No tsunami threat to Hawaii after strong quake off Solomon Isles
A preliminary magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck near the Solomon Islands this morning, but poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The quake struck 74 miles southwest of Dadali, Solomon Islands at 8:31 a.m. at a depth of 6.7 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No injuries were immediately reported.
