Hawaii County police identified a man who died while trimming a tree as Christopher Volpa, 26, of Kailua-Kona.

Police responded to a 10:20 a.m. call today of a man who was unconscious and may have fallen out of a tree at a house located on the 78-7000 block of Kuakini Highway.

Volpa was found lying on the road with burn marks next to a long tree-trimming pole, which also had burn marks, police said.

Police said he had been trimming branches near electrical power lines.

Volpa was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead at 1:38 p.m.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
