Police ask for public’s help in Chinatown murder case
CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect or suspects responsible for the apparent murder of 49-year-old man who had been living in the Chinatown area.
Hoang Van Nguyen’s body was found at about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 29 in his apartment on North Hotel Street. An autopsy determined that his cause of death was suspicious, and the case is now classified as murder in the second degree.
Nguyen was last seen alive at about 9 a.m. Dec. 27 near the intersection of North Hotel Street and River Street.
Nguyen’s vehicle, a 2007 silver Toyota Camry bearing Hawaii license plate PDN 585, is missing.
