Unattended surfboard in Waikiki waters touches off search
Honolulu firefighters and personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a search of waters off Waikiki after an unattended surfboard was spotted in the ocean near Duke’s Waikiki.
Four Honolulu Fire Department companies staffed with 12 personnel responded to the 7 p.m. alert.
The surfboard was brought back to shore.
There were no reports of a missing surfer, according to the Honolulu Police Department, and an HFD aerial search did not yield any results and was suspended.
The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing with its own ocean search.
