2 small earthquakes felt near summit of Mauna Loa
Two early-morning minor earthquakes were felt near the summit of Mauna Loa.
The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck at 1:52 a.m. and was centered about 35 miles southwest of Hilo and 4.1 miles north-northeast of the Mauna Loa summit.
Only a handful of people reported feeling the temblor on the USGS website.
A dispatcher with the Island of Hawaii Police Department said no one has reported any damage because of the quake.
It was followed by a magnitude 3.0 earthquake scentered about 3.8 miles south-southwest of the summit of Mauna Loa at a depth of 1.5 miles at 4:01 a.m.
