Aliamanu man facing murder charge in wife’s fatal stabbing
Murder and attempted murder charges are pending for a 65-year-old Aliamanu man who allegedly killed his wife, wounded a relative and tried to take his own life in the couple’s home Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Melita Fortin-Fajotina, a nursing assistant at the Queen’s Medical Center and a cancer survivor, by relatives.
Paramedics said the victim died of stab wounds at the couple’s Wanaka Street home.
Also injured was a 52-year-old woman who was treated for her injuries at the scene, police said.
The suspect was arrested on the scene and taken to Queen’s Medical Center, where he is being held for treatment and observation after he tried to kill himself with a knife.
He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder.

Relatives said the suspect may have overdosed on prescription drugs.
