Man dies when car goes over Maui cliff
A man was found dead inside a vehicle that went over a cliff on Maui after authorities used GPS tracking to locate the accident site off Kahekili Highway this morning.
Officials said the vehicle was found in a ravine about 200 feet below the highway, just north of the south entrance to Kaukini Loop. Firefighters and police began the search for the site of a possible vehicle accident at 7:44 a.m. after a company that manages the GPS tracking in the vehicle called emergency dispatchers. Police said GPS coordinates were obtained from the vehicle’s onboard location tracker.
The fire department’s Air 1 helicopter was dispatched to search the thick vegetation near where the vehicle was believed to have gone off the roadway and over the side of a cliff. The man was found dead inside, and crews recovered the body and transferred him to a landing zone in a nearby pasture.

GPS is great. Find the body before the flies do.
Should have heed the posted signs on the road. They are not for decoration.
When driving towards Kahakuloa, you need to keep your eyes on the road at all times. One wheel off the road say Aloha because you’re gone. Stop if you want to read signs.
Could also be…suicide? Many have used this method to check out before.

GPS is so good. Reminds me of the story about a woman who accidentally drove off a bridge and out off sight. Stuck and drank the only water bottle she had. Luckily a nosy highway patrolman took the trouble to think suspiciously and get off his seat cushion and lean over the railing. I sure hope my car has this invention. In Hawaii, BWM did call an owner at his home telling him his car was on fire. Yep. Right in his own garage next to him. Ironically BMW’s faulty electronics caused it. Wish this invention could be implanted in every person in and entering the USA.
