‘Iao Valley State Monument reopens after 2 weeks of renovations
Maui’s ‘Iao Valley State Monument will reopen today after two weeks of park improvements.
The park was closed for two weeks from Jan. 11 to 22 while Division of State Parks crews decommissioned two cesspools in the park that were mandated by a consent agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Land and Natural Resources said.
A restroom trailer is on site for visitors, officials said.
Crews also made improvements to the park water system and renovated the pavement of the parking lot.
The park will reopen at 7 a.m.
