The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life

Bit of isles south of border

Dusty Loffarelli of Honolulu recently returned from a trip to Mexico City where he discovered a bit of home at Hawaiian Paradise, a stand that sells icy drinks made with fruit and sugar. “Though their papayas are different from ours, this bit of Hawaiian-style ‘frutas’ was the perfect cure for their spicy food, while reminding me how lucky we live Hawaii,” he said. Loffarelli took the photo of himself Jan. 14 using a timer on his iPhone.
