North Kona pinpointed as dengue fever high-risk area
The state Department of Health is pinpointing North Kona as one of two high-risk areas for locally acquired dengue fever infection on its latest map of Hawaii island.
On Jan. 20, North Kona, Milolii and Pahoa were listed as moderate-risk areas. South Kona is the only area to maintain the high-risk designation through this outbreak.
Milolii and Waipio Valley, once high risk, are now in the some-risk category, as is Pahoa.
The Health Department confirmed on Wednesday that 241 people have contracted locally acquired dengue fever in the last four months on Hawaii island.
In the most the most recent confirmed case, the patient had dengue fever symptoms on Jan. 21. The first known case had an onset of illness on Sept. 11.
Waipio Valley Access Road and Waipio Valley remain closed to visitors until further notice. Hookena and Milolii beach parks remain closed. State lands in Milolii and Honomalino are also closed to visitors.

This is confusing… Title has North Kona as the dengue fever high-risk area. Article has South Kona as the only high-risk area.
This virus makes us all confused.
Re-read the article. It says that North Kona has just been added as a high-risk area while South Kona is the only area that has been a high-risk area throughout the outbreak.
Wish the Health Dept would be more specific about the North Kona Area it could run anywhere between Kelakekua and up to Waikoloa.
I always expect a half of an answer from the government. Hence the adage, good enough for government work.
