Suspect in death of Kalihi woman arrested on unrelated charges
The 25-year-old prime suspect in the murder of a 39-year-old Kalihi woman is in police custody after being arrested for two charges not related to the slaying.
Jhun Ley Irorita, who was described by police as a suspect in the death of Helen Prestosa, has never been charged and was freed Jan. 13 after authorities said there was not enough evidence to pursue the matter. He was arrested Wednesday morning for violating a protective order and conditions of parole. His bail was set at $4,000.
Prestosa’s body has never been found.
Prestosa, who was battling both breast and bone cancer, was last seen at about 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 in Kalihi.
Irorita was arrested Jan 11 at a Waipahu home on suspicion of second-degree murder and resisting arrest. Prestosa, a manager at a Jack in the Box restaurant, was initially reported as a missing person, but police reclassified the case as second-degree murder after detectives determined that she was the victim of foul play.
