Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (3) of Team Irvin looks to pass during the first half of the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl today at Aloha Stadium.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw for three touchdowns and Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston added two of his own to lead Team Irvin to a convincing 49-27 victory in today’s Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

Wilson played the entire first quarter and part of the second en route to completing eight of 12 passes for 164 yards and no interceptions. He was named the game’s offensive most valuable player. (Seahawks teammate Michael Bennett was the defensive MVP.)

Winston had a solid game himself, completing six of 12 for 113 yards and no picks. Team Irvin threw for 406 yards and seven touchdowns, while Team Rice’s trio of Eli Manning, Derek Carr and Tyrod Taylor countered with 396 yards and three touchdowns in a game dominated by big plays. The difference was Team Rice threw six interceptions to only one for Team Irvin.

Down 14 at the half, Team Rice took the opening kickoff of the third quarter and drove for a touchdown, with Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin running it in from 3 yards out for the score. Josh Brown hit the PAT to make it 28-21 Team Irvin midway through the third quarter. But Team Rice would get no closer.

Team Irvin wasted little time getting the lead back to 14 points on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Minnesota’s Teddy Bridgewater to Tampa Bay’s Allen Robinson, Dan Bailey hitting the PAT to make it 35-21.

Team Irvin made it a three-touchdown game on a 51-yard scoring pass from Winston to Tennessee tight end Delanie Walker.

Winston padded Team Irvin’s lead with a 7-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins to make it 49-21 Team Irvin midway through the fourth quarter.

Buffalo’s Taylor got into the scoring column with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Miami’s Jarvis Landry. The try for 2 failed to cut Team Irvin’s lead to 49-27 with about six minutes remaining.

Team Rice also struck first to open the game on a 10-play, 75-yard drive engineered by New York Giants quarterback Manning. Three times during the drive, Manning converted on third down en route to hitting five of six passes for 71 yards.

His touchdown toss to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was also a third-down play from 4 yards out as Team Rice claimed a 7-0 advantage.

It didn’t take Team Irvin long to respond with a 14-yard touchdown strike from Wilson to Atlanta’s Julio Jones. The play was set up on a 70-yard completion from Wilson to Houston’s DeAndre Hopkins. The try for 2 failed to keep it at 7-6 in favor of Team Rice.

Manning threw a pick on the next series for Team Rice. It deflected off the receiver’s hands and into the waiting arms of Dallas linebacker Sean Lee. Team Irvin struck quickly, as Wilson took advantage of the short field to throw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Atlanta’s Devonta Freeman. The try for 2 was successful this time on a pass from Wilson to Hopkins to make it 14-7 Team Irvin late in the first quarter.

Team Irving extended its lead to 21-7 after Wilson found Todd Gurley of St. Louis open for a 10-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter.

Team Rice cut the margin to a touchdown on a 10-yard scoring strike from Oakland quarterback Carr to Kelce for his second touchdown snag of the game, making the score 21-14 late in the second quarter.

Team Irvin extended its margin to 28-14 on a 2-yard touchdown pass from Bridgewater to Philadelphia’s Darren Sproles with 32 seconds left in the half.

Entertaining game. Interesting to see how stadium officials will deal with the leaking toilet that splashed water on a lot of folks.
