Hawaii Kai man charged with stealing car, crashing into police vehicle

A 41-year-old Hawaii Kai man has been charged with crashing a stolen vehicle into a police patrol car in Pearl City, police said.

Brahman Sai Galanti was charged Friday with auto theft, first-degree criminal property damage, and first-degree terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $25,000.

Police said an officer noticed a stolen vehicle that Galanti was driving about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. After spotting the officer’s vehicle, Galanti began reversing down Waiawa Road and turned around before he encountered another police vehicle down the road. Police said Galanti rammed the second patrol car before attempting to flee on foot.

Officers arrested Galanti a short distance away.

After is said and done, I would not be surprised that this individual has a string of priors and went thru the process of arrest, conviction, sentencing and then released only to the a reset and repeat. If I am being a bit premature on my assessment…my apologies. Aside from the innocents whose auto was stolen it also placed the safety of the general public and law enforcement in jeopardy. I believe there will be a time when an innocent(s) will be mortally injured due to the growing convicted criminal population being let out to continue preying on same without a sense of impunity…sad.
