Marines in Great Aloha Run remember fallen brothers
Marines from Marine Corps Forces Pacific and Marine Corps Base Hawaii ran in the Great Aloha Run in the “Sounds of Freedom” portion of the race in memory of fallen brothers.
They ran in honor of 12 Marines from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 who lost their lives when two big CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters from Kaneohe Bay crashed at sea two miles off Waimea Bay on the night of Jan. 14 during training.
The Navy ship USNS Salvor left Pearl Harbor Friday under calmer conditions after weeks of high sea states to begin recovery operations for the Marines and helicopters, the Marines said. The 255-foot ship could be seen over the weekend operating in the area of the debris field, which extends several square miles at varying depths greater than 300 feet, the Marine Corps said.
Search and rescue operations transitioned to recovery and salvage on Jan. 19. The status of the Marines changed to “deceased” on Jan. 20 after five full days of searching.
The U.S. military said the Great Aloha Run draws more than 6,000 military service members.

I ran it. And yes, the military guys were most polite and attractive. I am glad they are here to protect us.
allie should just run away from Hawai’i.
One 19 year old Marine called me his “baby blue.” He was referring to this song. How delicious a compliment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9F-_aSUlBo
Brothers in Valor will always be remembered for their sacrifice for America’s freedom that we take for granted.
