Hawaii chefs Kenney, Karr-Ueoka named semifinalists in James Beard Awards
Honolulu chefs and restaurateurs Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Ed Kenney are among the semifinalists for the 2016 James Beard Foundation Awards.
Karr-Ueoka, partner in MW Restaurant, is among 20 semifinalists for Outstanding Pastry Chef, while Kenney, nominated for Town restaurant, is among 20 semifinalists for Best Chef in the Western region.
Each chef has been named among the semifinalists more than once in previous years.
Final nominees for the awards in 21 categories will be announced March 15.
The James Beard Foundation Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awrds gala will be staged April 26 in New York City, while the annual James Beard Awards Gala, at which the chef, restaurant, and additional awards will be announced, will take place May 2 in Chicago.

Ono, delicious, and broke the mouth, drooling, entree dishes from Hawaii will save the day.
Hawaii has the advantage of using exotic herbs such as lemongrass.
Year after year Chef Kenney gets passed up for this award, and year after year Town keeps cranking out some of the best food around. Good luck once again Chef!
Mud Hen Water will be great if it wasn’t so expensive.
