Two Big Island men will be arraigned in District Court today in Hilo in connection with a stolen sport utility vehicle, forgery and possession of illegal drugs.

Police charged Paul Alisa, 32, who has no permanent address, with second-degree theft for the stolen SUV and first-degree forgery of a counterfeit bill. His bail was set at $7,000.

The passenger in the car, 31-year-old Jessie Campbell of Hilo, was charged with promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a harmful drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $21,000.

The pair were arrested at Wailoa State Park in Hilo after exiting a stolen vehicle.

The sport utility vehicle was taken from a home on Malolo Street in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision in Puna on April 4, police said.

Police said Campbell was in possession of crystal methamphetamine, unauthorized prescription drugs and paraphernalia associated with the use of illegal drugs.

During the investigation police determined that Alisa was also a suspect in a forgery case. In that case, a customer, later identified as Alisa, allegedly used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for an order at a fast food restaurant on Makaala Street in Hilo on Thursday.
