Waimanalo woman who died after hit by car identified
The 45-year-old Waimanalo woman who was killed Saturday while jaywalking across the highway near Waiamanalo Beach Park may have been drunk, according to police.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the pedestrian as Cheryl Pohina.
Police said alcohol contributed to the pedestrian’s death.
However, the Medical Examiner’s Office said that not all her medical tests have been completed. The official cause of death was found to be multiple blunt force trauma.
The accident occurred at 9:45 p.m. Saturday on Kalanianaole Highway near Huli Street.
A 23-year-old Aiea man was driving eastbound on Kalanianaole Highway when he hit the woman. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she later died. Police said the driver was not speeding.

It was raining intermittently at the time of the collision, police said.
