Downtown Las Vegas casino owners plan to build new casino

LAS VEGAS » The owners of two downtown Las Vegas casinos say they have purchased another property that will become a new hotel and casino.
Brothers Derek and Greg Stevens, who own D Las Vegas and Golden Gate, announced Thursday they purchased the building next to the shuttered Las Vegas Club on Fremont Street. They have acquired the property, which houses the Mermaids and La Bayou casinos and the Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch, from Granite Gaming Group. The businesses will close June 27.
A sales price hasn’t been disclosed.
The brothers say they are still in the planning stages for the new hotel-casino, which will be the first ground-up development in downtown Las Vegas in decades.
The Stevens’ also own Clark County’s Bridger Building and the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

Yes it is. A whole lot of Hawaii people go to the Cal, Main Street and Fremont. The new casino is right next door and will have a huge impact on Boyd Gaming. In fact, the Cal was doing major work to their casino last time I was there to step up their game.

Nah, not that much. Much of the Hawaii people go to the Boyd casinos and not the D or Golden Gate as much. Many don’t like the loud music blaring at the D and expect this new casino to be just like the D and GG, more for the younger people but not the older Hawaiian clientele.
Time to see these old school joints before they become sweet memories.
Place was like a ghost town when I last visited it. Had the Las Vegas Jerky Store in there. Where did they move to. Would have been a good purchase for the Boyd Hotels.
Caught the package. At least 20 wheelchairs waiting to board. Something like going to Marukai. Customers getting old. They need to attract the younger set.
They are having a hard time with the properties they own. My thought is one was too much, two is way too much.
Don’t like slumming it in downtown Vegas. Those places are rat infested.
You probably need to stay out of the back alleys
Finally, that place is a disaster.
