A 20-year-old homeless man was charged Sunday with allegedly assaulting a city bus driver who told him that smoking was not allowed on the bus.

Edward Sony was arrested at 7:30 p.m. on South Hotel Street. His bail was set at $11,000.

Police said Sony allegedly attacked the 47-year-old male driver after the driver told to stop smoking on the bus.

What was “Sony” smoking? Somehow, I don’t believe his birthname is “Sony”. Be NICE to our overworked and underpaid BUS DRIVERS! They put up with incredible nonsense throughout their shifts from everyone–especially tourists. Show your BUS DRIVERS ALOHA!!

The lawmakers want to throw good money on the bad. The more you give the worse it gets. Answer? Stop giving.
Don’t expect law abiding citizens when you let the homeless run amok. One Nation for all, not a bunch of vagrants and derelicts.

yes our Bus drivers are trying to do their best out there on the roads. Please show them some Aloha because I give them credit for dealing with all the A**holes out there. I ride the bus everyday and boy the kind of people that ride the bus don’t belong on the bus. Anyway good job to all the Bus Drivers out there.

    Now they own the place.

That one scuzbag possibly made some working people on that bus late. If you ride the bus, you know how important the bus being on schedule is, and this bum made it go off schedule. I hope a passenger gave him a couple of whacks and put the cigarette out on his face before the cops got there. (Smoking is dangerous, as proven by this tobacco related injury).

Another transient incident…simply too many. In addition, regardless of where they come from our “catch and release” system really doesn’t deter many of those who are engaged in criminal activity from any consequences. Take a step back and look around…the same message is being broadcast that’s it’s O.K. to engage in criminal or inappropriate behavior with no consequence…look at those in a position of power.

Hope he’ll spend in jail a long time where he won’t be given cigarettes to smoke. Force him to go cold turkey. That will be the toughest punishment.

Have you noticed that these poor, destitute homeless always seem to have the means to afford cigarettes, and narcotics?

Don’t forget alcoholic beverages, cell phones…sometimes laptops. By the way, mention to me by a close fried. He has an acquaintance who is a mainland visitor that comes over to vacation as a homeless…live off of whatever our Community will accommodate and goes back home. Some of our visitors are very astute and figure out it’s a good deal to vacation here and take advantage of the our Community. Some have then asked why our acceptance towards transients may not be laced with “Aloha”.

Homeless doesn’t necessarily mean destitute. I happen to see about a half-dozen people every day who happily throw their disability checks or pensions towards booze of illicit drugs. They just have different priorities from you and I.

Well, he got something going for him, a nice place to spend his time awaiting sentencing. Free room and board!
