Idiot!! I have no sympathy for this moped driver going in the wrong direction on S. King St. He deserved what he got…….nothing more and nothing less.

  2. HOSSANA says:

Unfortunately, alcohol is deemed to be a factor in this moped driver going in the opposite direction of S. King St. Another accident caused by ignorance. Nothing more and nothing less.

Yep! Moped going wrong way and Car driver possibly drunk – “Two wrongs do not make a Right”

      • localguy says:

Notice you failed to provide credible evidence to support your shibai claim the car driver was “possibly drunk.” Uhhhh, HPD never said that. Only with the wrong way moped operator.

Easy to tell a total rookie poster. Making it up as they go along. Sad.

        • dsl says:

The article states that both drivers were intoxicated…doesn’t say alcohol but it does say intoxicated.

        • Crackers says:

Actually, the broad definition of the word, drunk, is: relating to, caused by, or characterized by intoxication. So PMINZ is spot-on in using the word, drunk. Regardless, this was a bad incident for both vehicle operators.

Localguy, maybe you should read a little more carefully before you go off attacking people. Sad.

localguy – seems that you are “intoxicated” or “drunk” while you are posting comments. Either that or you need some eyeglasses so you can read better. What’s worse than a “total rookie poster” – a stu*pid poster.

I guess he won’t be riding his moped for a while. He probably was on his way home from work. Too early for school. Cheap transportation but very dangerous even under the best of circumstances. It’s unfortunate that the few who antagonize the public with their recklessness makes people think that all mopeds are like that.

    Nice flashlight.

  5. tygah says:

Maybe moped guy thought he could act like a bicycle rider since bicycles are allowed to travel in both directions in the S. King St. bike lane.

    • PMINZ says:

The photo shows the “Bike Track” to be two lanes over. I see the Berm to the back of the photo. Looks like Moped in center of the Cars lanes. Still no less sad.

  6. popolo says:

man das hard luck getting banged by one drunk going the wrong way

  7. SHOPOHOLIC says:

Motorcycles & mopeds…it ain’t IF you get taken out. It’s WHEN.

  8. dragoninwater says:

Sad to hear that this turned into a serious injury but at least there are two drunks off the streets that will no longer be endangering others. I guess this would be a good time to write to HART to complete the rail project to Ala Moana so all the drunks will be able stumble their way onto the choo-choo from their favorite bar and ride to the middle of nowhere and sober up.

  9. yobo says:

With this new legislation mandating Mopeds to register/license/safety check.

Enforcement by police is questionable. Loud illegal mufflers still prevail in our neighborhoods.

  10. JPC says:

Was the moped rider the legal owner of the moped in question? There are countless stolen mopeds and bicycles being reported. Inquiring minds would like to know! Stolen or not!
