6 dogs taken in Kauai Humane Society burglary; reward offered

    The stolen dogs include three female Pit Bull mix, ranging from two to seven years old, and two female Airdales, ages two and five.

Six dogs were taken from the Kauai Humane Society shelter in a burglary over the weekend, police said today.

The suspect or suspects cut a side gate lock to gain access to the dogs sometime after nightfall Saturday night and before 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

The stolen dogs include three female dogs, which are pit bull mixes, ranging from 2 to 7 years old, and two female Airedale terriers, ages 2 and 5.

The suspect also stole a 2-month-old female Labrador mix puppy, named Arianna, who is microchipped.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the burglary.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 241-1711. Anonymous calls may be made to CrimeStoppers at 246-8300.
