Kekai Rios went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Matt LoCoco hit a two-out, two-run triple in the sixth inning to help Hawaii knock off No. 18 Cal State Fullerton 6-3 tonight in the opener of a three-game series at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, Calif.

Josh Rojas doubled and drove in two runs and Ethan Lopez doubled to extend his hitting streak to 14 games with two runs scored for Hawaii (22-26, 11-11 Big West), which has won three straight.

The Rainbow Warriors won their 15th straight conference game when scoring at least five runs.

Hawaii hadn’t scored more than five runs in any of its three previous series against Cal State Fullerton (32-18, 14-5) since joining the Big West.

Kyle Von Ruden (7-2) allowed two earned runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings with three walks and four strikeouts to earn the win.

Lawrence Chew and Cody Culp shut out Fullerton over the final 3 1/3 innings, with Culp earning his fifth save.

Connor Seabold (6-5) was tagged for a season-high five runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Fullerton’s conference lead over Long Beach State dropped to two games with five to play, while Hawaii moved into sole possession of fourth place in the BWC.

The series continues Saturday at 3 p.m. Hawaii time.
