Shark spotted off Alii Beach Park
Warning signs have been posted at Alii Beach Park after a shark was spotted feeding off fish near the shoreline.
Lifeguard spotted a 13-15 foot shark at about 11 a.m. today, according to Emergency Medical Services personnnel. While lifeguards verbally issued warnings and posted signs, the beach was never closed.
No further information was available.

Simple, stay out of the water in that area if you just ate fish or smell like one!
I kind of wish that the shark reports could be a little more specific. Not only does size matter, species also is important. An animal this size in Hawaiian waters is probably a tiger but great whites are not unknown.
Also, where is Alii Beach?
(It’s the beach park next to the Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor. Very popular and lots of kids have learned to surf there.)

Haleiwa is crawling with sharks, you just dont see them often. Seen at least 6 (big ones) in my 40 years surfing Alii’s.
Wow! I often see white-tipped reef sharks when diving off Oahu but they’re pretty mellow. Of course the adolescent males occasionally like to pull off their T-shirts and make big body while swimming around in circles. 🙂
Stop the Shark Boat Tours in Haleiwa
Must be a slow news day. Why not report on the hammerheads in front of the Royal Hawaiian as well?
