PORTLAND, Ore. » A homeowner in Portland shot an intruder this week who turned out to be former Detroit Lions cornerback Stanley Wilson II, authorities said.

Wilson was naked and wounded Wednesday when officers found him in a water fountain in the backyard of the multimillion-dollar home, Multnomah County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Alexander said.

He was shot in the abdomen, but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of burglary and criminal trespassing but remained in a hospital.

A new court date has not been set. Court records do not list a lawyer who could speak on Wilson’s behalf.

The 33-year-old spent three seasons with the Lions, from 2005 to 2007, after playing college ball at Stanford. He is the son of former Cincinnati Bengals running back Stanley Wilson Sr., whose notorious cocaine binge on the eve of the 1989 Super Bowl led to his ouster from the NFL.

This week, the Portland homeowner called 911 to report the shooting, Alexander said.

Deputies ordered the shooter to come out through the home’s front entrance while leaving his firearm at the door. He followed instructions and met investigators in the driveway.

Oregon law allows a person to use deadly physical force against someone trying to burglarize their home.

It’s not clear when Wilson moved to Portland. Records show he lives near the home he is accused of trying to break in to. He does not have a listed phone number.

    Good for him!

    • krusha says:

Dude is lucky he survived. I wonder if he is suffering from some form of post NFL brain disorder.

    • dontbelieveinmyths says:

It’s a good thing that homeowner wasn’t denied his or her right to own a gun.

      • aomohoa says:

No one is trying to deny it here either. They will just need a background check. Nothing to fear of you are not a criminal or on the FBI watch list.

        • peanutgallery says:

You’re way deep into the Kool-Aid. Democrats are the most dangerous threat facing America. Far more than ISIS, and with a leader like OneBigAssMistakeAmerica, keeping your firearms is questionable. If Mateen, the shooter in Orlando, doesn’t represent all Muslims, why according to Democrats, does he represent all gun owners?

        • Carang_da_buggahz says:

You had better listen to PeanutGallery. Truer words were never spoken.

        • laeboy says:

That is the issue, you WILL be on a watch list with the passing of this bill by Ige.

      • klastri says:

Exactly where and by whom is anyone suggesting the homeowners cannot own a gun?

        • hawaiikone says:

Actually, quite a few legislators have already suggested as such, and prefer to reject reasonable GOP gun control measures in exchange for maintaining a frenzy among their constituents.

        • hawaiikone says:

          “much”

        • klastri says:

hawaiikone – “Quite a few legislators?” What legislators have suggested or even talked about taking away the guns of homeowners?

You won’t be able to answer that because you just made up the whole thing. You cannot be truthful.

        • laeboy says:

Hey Klastri! Aren’t the one that spew hate on SA and then tries to retract it? Once its out you can’t get it back. Your voice and opinion just don’t count anymore move on along with your friend Allie.

        • hawaiikone says:

klas, do you really want me to embarrass you one more time? I’d have thought by this time you’d have learned to avoid crossing swords with me, as you’ve been chopped down so often..

        • klastri says:

hawaiikone – Yes. Please embarrass me one more time.

You can’t produce a list because you made the whole thing up.

You said that “quite a few legislators” have suggested removing guns from homeowners, and that’s not true. You cannot be truthful. Period.

        • hawaiikone says:

Henry Cisneros, Bill Bradley, Diane Feinstein, Kurt Schmoke, John Chafee, Bobby Rush, Major Owens, William Clay, Joseph Curran, Barbara Fass, Tony Bouza.

And as space is limiting, all those that supported HR 4269, and all those that voted for UN resolution 2117.

        • hawaiikone says:

And, not to overlook the most threatening of all, Hillary Clinton, with her voiced admiration of the Australian model.

        • klastri says:

hawaiikone – Like usual, you’re either all mixed up or you are lying. HR4269 says nothing whatever about homeowners not being able to have and use a gun for home self defense. You need to read the bill first before writing about it.

None of those legislators have spoken or written about taking away guns from homeowners, or preventing them from using a legally owned firearm in self defense.

You are simply unable to write truthfully.

        • hawaiikone says:

klas, if you’re actually a lawyer, I can certainly understand why so much of your time is spent on forums….

  2. Snator says:

If that happened here, the homeowner would be in jail and the perp would be ‘released pending further investigation’.

    • serious says:

Exactly, Oregon people are armed, and when you’re armed the bad guys stay away. There is an exception, of course, and that’s the community college that had the “gun free” sign when they let a shooter in. That’s when Obama visited and talked about gun control and was fiercely booed–his Secret Service people, I am sure, were not armed!!!! Hypocrite!!!!

      • pohaku96744 says:

Only the school, everybody that lined the roadway up to Umpqua Community College were gun carrying. In fact taking my old 9mm to my daughter, she lives in Roseburg. Everybody got a gun there. People who live in Douglas County have a different view of the world.

      • RSYmoney says:

What if all bad guys also were armed or targeted homes who had guns to steal and use them. Just ban semi and automatic assault rifles. No real hunter would use such a weapon to hunt deer or rabbits.
If there was a crazy shooting people, less would die since these assault rifles can have 30 to 100 round clips or magazines vs a hand gun. Use your brains

        • hawaiikone says:

Well, banning all guns would even accomplish even more, right? Like the Guinness man says, “brilliant!”.

        • Carang_da_buggahz says:

No, YOU use your brains. Think about what you just said. I’m even embarrassed for you. I have a constitutional right to my firearms and NO ONE is going to take that right away from me, not you, obama, Clinton, Pelosi, the Federal government…NO ONE. As long as I conduct myself in a responsible manner and observe the law, NO one is going to disarm me.

        • klastri says:

          Carang_da_buggahz – Great chest beating!

No one is suggesting taking away guns, but that doesn’t mean you can’t just create your own reality.

        • laeboy says:

Klastri quote as it should be heard,”blablablablabalalalala”. Meaningless and pointless Klastri, you mean absolutely nothing.

    • klastri says:

Well, that’s not true of course. But why true to be truthful and accurate, when you can just make up things?

  3. honupono says:

    head trauma.

  5. SueH says:

Maybe the State should be re-named “OregUn”.

  6. saveparadise says:

Why are you breaking into another person’s home….naked? I hope he was shot in the olos.

  7. islandsun says:

Shot by husband while running down the hallway from wife’s bedroom

  8. Jonas says:

“Oregon law allows a person to use deadly physical force against someone trying to burglarize their home.” Please pass this law in Hawaii.

    • MakaniKai says:

Won’t happen in the nei!!! Just as Snator commented: “homeowner would be in jail and perp released pending further investigation” Tragic.

  9. justmyview371 says:

The homeowner should be arrested too. You shouldn’t shoot people who are in your outdoors fountain. Call the police.

  10. Carang_da_buggahz says:

Sounds like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Now, watch this PM sue the homeowner.
