Hawaii County police briefly shut down section of Route 190 due to brush fire
Hawaii County police shut down a section of Route 190 Thursday afternoon due to a brush fire in North Kona, but it was reopened about 20 minutes later.
Police advised motorists to use caution after the highway was reopened.
The road had been closed between 16 and 17 mile markers and motorists were advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
Police reported the closure at about 4:42 p.m.
By 5:01 p.m., police reopened the highway. The brush fire was 80 percent contained.
