Big Isle firefighters rescue 7 people at Hakalau Beach Park
Hawaii island firefighters rescued seven people who were drawn out a river mouth into the open ocean at Hakalau Beach Park today.
Four companies staffed with 15 personnel responded to the 5 p.m. emergency call.
A fire helicopter located the victims and two rescue swimmers were dispatched to assist them. All were safely transported to land via the helicopter.
No injuries were reported.
