Sonest Furtado scored unassisted in the 77th minute to give the Hawaii soccer team a 1-0 victory over Saint Mary’s tonight at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

UH (5-0-1) won its fifth straight contest and claimed its third Outrigger Soccer Classic tournament title among its six-game season-opening homestand.

The Rainbow Wahine are off to the second-best start through six games in program history. Only the 1998 squad that opened 6-0 was better.

UH had to survive several close calls in the second half to keep it scoreless, but ultimately earned its third straight shutout. It now prepares to head out for three games in the state of Colorado starting next week.

SMC (0-5) of the West Coast Conference lost to its fifth straight Big West opponent to open its season.
