Hawaii players celebrate a point late in the third set of the Utah Valley University vs the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Junior middle Emily Maglio put down 10 kills without a hitting error and No. 14 Hawaii used a balanced attack to sweep Utah Valley in tonight’s opener of the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior opposite Nikki Taylor finished with a match-high 12 kills and junior hitter McKenna Granato and freshman hitter Kirstin Sibley each added 11 kills in the 25-18, 25-21, 25-8 victory. Junior libero Savanah Kahakai had 10 digs.

This was the first time this season that the Rainbow Wahine (4-3) had four players with double-digit kills.

For the Wolverines (3-5), Lexi Thompson had a team-high eight kills. Utah Valley outblocked Hawaii 8-3, with Madison Dennison in on six.
