ST. LOUIS » In a bitter debate filled with tension and insult, Hillary Clinton declared that Donald Trump’s vulgar comments about women reveal “exactly who he is” and prove his unsuitability to be president. Firing back, he accused her of attacking women involved in Bill Clinton’s extramarital affairs and promised she would “be in jail” if he were president.
Trump, who entered Sunday night’s debate desperate to steady his floundering campaign, unleashed a barrage of attacks and continually interrupted Clinton. He repeatedly called her a “liar,” labeled her the “devil” and contended she had “tremendous hate in her heart.”
On one substantive matter, he acknowledged for the first time that he had paid no federal income taxes for many years.
The debate was the culmination of a stunning stretch in the race for the White House, which began with the release of a new video in which Trump is heard bragging about how his fame allowed him to “do anything” to women. Many Republicans rushed to revoke their support, with some calling for him to drop out of the race.
Answering for his words for the first time, Trump denied he had ever kissed and grabbed women without their consent. He said repeatedly that his words in 2005 were merely “locker room talk” and paled in comparison to what he called Bill Clinton’s abuse of women.
“She should be ashamed of herself,” Trump declared. Ahead of the debate, the businessman met with three women who accused the former president of sexual harassment and even rape, then invited them to sit in the debate hall.

Bill Clinton never faced any criminal charges in relation to the allegations, and a lawsuit over an alleged rape was dismissed. He did settle a lawsuit with one of the women who claimed harassment.
On the debate stage, Clinton did not respond directly to Trump’s accusations about her husband or her own role, but was blistering in her condemnation of his predatory comments about women in the tape released Friday.
“I think it’s clear to anyone who heard him that it represents exactly who he is,” she said, adding that she did not believe Trump had the “fitness to serve” as commander in chief.
The second debate was a town hall format, with several undecided voters sitting on stage with the candidates. The voters, all from the St. Louis area, were selected by Gallup.
The tension between Trump and Clinton was palpable from the start of their 90-minute debate, the second time they have faced off in the presidential campaign. They did not shake hands as they met at center stage.
Trump, who is several inches taller than Clinton, stood close behind her as she answered questions from the voters. At other times, he paced the stage, repeatedly interrupting her and criticizing the moderators.
Trump struggled at times to articulate detailed policy proposals, repeatedly dancing around questions about how he would replace President Barack Obama’s health care law, a measure he has vowed to repeal. But he leveled several charges against Clinton that will likely energize his supporters, including saying she should have been criminally charged for her controversial email practices at the State Department.
In a rare public break with his running mate, Trump made clear he did not agree with Mike Pence on how to deal with war-torn Syria. Last week, Pence said the U.S. military should be ready to strike Syrian military targets that are under the command of President Bashar Assad. The threat of military action against the Russia-backed Assad government marks a departure from Trump’s preference for a focus on Islamic State targets.
Said Trump, “He and I haven’t spoken and I disagree.”
Trump’s campaign was already struggling before the new video was released, due in part to his uneven performance in the first presidential debate. Many Republicans saw Sunday’s showdown as his last best chance to salvage his campaign.
It was unclear whether Trump’s performance did anything to expand his support beyond his core backers. He did repeatedly cast Clinton as a career politician who had accomplished little during her years in Washington and would be incapable of bringing about change, one of his strongest arguments in a campaign that has highlighted American’s deep frustration.
“With her, it’s all talk and no action,” Trump said.
The new revelations about Trump overshadowed potentially damaging revelations about Clinton’s paid speeches to Wall Street firms. Emails released by WikiLeaks last week showed Clinton told a group that it’s acceptable for a president to project differing positions in public and private.
Asked in the debate whether that’s “two-faced,” Clinton pointed to Abraham Lincoln, saying he did whatever he could to get the 13th Amendment passed, allowing emancipation of the slaves, by lawmakers who did not support African-American equality.
“I was making the point it is hard sometimes to get the Congress to do what you want them to do. That was a great display of presidential leadership.”
Rolling his eyes, Trump said, “Now she’s blaming the late, great Abraham Lincoln.”
The political firestorm that preceded the debate was sparked by a video obtained and released Friday by The Washington Post and NBC News. In the video, Trump, who was married to his current wife at the time, is heard describing attempts to have sex with a married woman. He also brags to Billy Bush of “Access Hollywood” about women letting him kiss them and grab their genitals because he is famous.
Trump used the revelations as an opening to make good on his repeated promises to throw Bill Clinton’s sexual history into the center of his campaign against his wife. Less than two hours before the debate, he brazenly met publicly in a hotel conference room with three women — Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey — who have accused Bill Clinton of unwanted sexual advances and even rape. Kathy Shelton, a fourth woman who appeared with Trump, was a 12-year-old Arkansas sexual assault victim whose alleged assailant was defended by Hillary Clinton.
Trump refused to answer questions from reporters about his own aggressive sexual remarks about women during the meeting.
In the heated debate’s final moments, the candidates briefly put aside their animosity when asked by a voter if they respected anything about each other.
Clinton said she respected Trump’s children, calling them “incredibly able and devoted.”
Trump, as if pulling a line directly from the Clinton campaign, called his Democratic opponent a “fighter.”
“She doesn’t quit, she doesn’t give up,” he said. “I respect that.”

And he kept returning to watching coverage on CNN, the cable outlet he derides as biased against him but still tunes in to most often, and becoming more upset as he saw Republican officials condemn him one by one.

The deliberations over a possible interview were moving ahead despite Ms. Trump’s lack of interest in appearing on camera. But then Nancy O’Dell, the former “Access Hollywood” host whom Mr. Trump had lewdly described in the recording, issued a statement denouncing his comments. And then more tapes of Mr. Trump speaking crudely about women, this time on “The Howard Stern Show,” turned up on television.

IRT Kealaula, we heard the true split of the United States of America, the Conservative Originalist half and the Liberal Progressive side. I am solidly on the Conservative Originalist side with Mr. Trump and his supporters. Mr. Trump’s list of potential nominees to the Federal Courts are all outstanding individuals and Conservative Originalists. Ms Hillary on the other hand support Liberal Progressives for the Federal bench and their decisions will change America forever. We, the voters, have a choice this Presidential election to move towards the Conservative Originalist agenda of our founding Fathers, or do we continue moving Left under the Liberal Progressive agenda of separating America into racial, religious, and income groups.
I wish we could hear more specifics. For example, Trump totally misrepresented Hillary’s proposed tax policies but she did not have much tim e to respond. No one under $250,000 a year will pay more taxes. Trump is all about tax cuts for the rich which will explode the deficit.

All I saw last night was Trump playing to his base. This is all fine and dandy except what he needs to do is expand his base and there was no way that his performance last night moved his campaign in that direction. Clinton has the momentum from Friday when the Trump “grab them by…” statements came out. This morning the WSJ/NBC poll has her up by double digit spreads. But the most relevant signs is that down ticket Republicans are beginning to abandon him. Trump has become toxic. Paul Ryan essentially conceded the race to Clinton and is now trying to save the House. After that debate performance Trump will be polling in the mid 30s and there are hints that more bad disclosures on the horizon. I suspect the democrats know that Trump is finished and they will spend their resources tying Trump to Republican Senate and House candidate.
Trump is going to have Mrs. Clinton put in jail? Just what we need – a profoundly mentally ill dictator who doesn’t understand the law or the Constitution.
Thankfully, Trump’s campaign has collapsed completely. He’s finished.

Trump didn’t crash and burn like he did in the first debate, so I suppose that has to be counted as a victory of sorts. But on substance he almost literally said nothing. Every question was used as an opportunity to attack Hillary Clinton in one way or another. She’s a liar; she loves rich people; her husband is a sexual predator; she has “tremendous hate in her heart”; she wants to put coal miners out of business; she ought to be in jail; and on and on. I think it’s safe to say that no one in presidential debate history has come anywhere close to being as derogatory as Trump was this evening. He also insisted on interrupting constantly, just in case anyone had any doubts about his temperament.

Reminded me of when President Nixon ordered his Attorney General to fire Archibald Cox. Trump seemed to be saying he would appoint a special prosecutor for the purpose of filing an indictment against Clinton. Prosecutors are supposed to be independent and base their decision solely on the facts, not on the desires of a President. Elliot Richardson resigned rather than fire Cox as Nixon wanted. I guess in the Trump world he would use the judicial system to exact political retribution. Kind of like “Hogan’s Heroes” where the gestapo guy would tell people “You will be give a fair trial, after which you will be shot”.

It is obvious that you are a Trump supporter and that is fine. But to pretend that you are neither Republican or Democrat to make it appear that you are unbiased can be seen from a mile away. You call Hillary Clinton “Hilliar” to emphasize that she is a liar. But the fact is, Trump denied his crass and sexist comments and behavior on the set of his show. Only when they dug up recordings of his comments during a taping of another show that he finally could not deny his past actions. Isn’t that in itself an example of Trumps dishonesty? I am not even talking about his penchant for womanizing. All I’m pointing out to his history of lying. It is easy to fall to name-calling. That is what little children do at the playground. What I do notice is that a lot of comments often start out with name-calling that fails to realize that their own candidate is guilty of the same thing. Your argument falls short in that Trump has admitted that his disrespectful talk regarding women was wrong. In direct contrast, Bill and Hillary Clinton have never admitted to Bill’s history of sexual assaults and in fact have demonized his accusers. Hillary laughed at the fact that as an attorney, she got one of her clients off on a technicality who raped a 12 year-old girl. She stated that her client plea bargained and passed a lie detector test and laughs at her own remark: “which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs” (which essentially admits that she knew her client was guilty).

When a football team is losing by 7 with a minute to go, they need to go for a touchdown, not a field goal. When a basketball team is losing by 8 with a minute to go, they have to start raining three-point shots. When a baseball team is losing by 3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, they need a grand slam, not a bunt single.
When Trump is down by 5 percentage points (and increasing) with a month to go, he should try to WIN debates, not just cover his embarrassment. And his bullying behavior got him ZERO women votes, which he needs desperately. And no, grabbing them by their crotch won’t work—not this time, never.
It looked to me like Trump may have won the debate. At least he performed better than last time. Hillary looked sorta stunned for the last half of the debate, I bet her campaign is disappointed with the outcome. Trump spanked her a few times.
CNN has it at 57% for Clinton, 34% for Trump. Probably will tilt more toward Clinton, as fact checking once again shows Trump built his arguments on falsehoods. And do NOT use the National Enquirer poll as evidence.

Trump managed to save face quite well in this debate after the locker room banter leak. As a business man myself, I like to hear concrete plans to solve issues. After listening to both candidates carefully, Trump was to only candidate offering real solutions whether anyone liked them or not. Hilary was just bumbling political promises with no action plans other than telling us that everything is all right and everything will just magically fix itself so we can just kick the can down the road once more again. She was exactly like our mayor Kirk Caldwell, a career politician that wasted billions on a choo-choo and got absolutely nothing done.

The talking heads and pundits who in general have a liberal bias/agenda will say that Clinton won or at very best that the debate did not move the needle. Given the circumstances I believe Trump did well and I am with the millions on Twitter that say Trump won 2-1.
