A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition after lost control of a vehicle he was driving and slammed into a metal utility pole near Aloun Farms early this morning.

At approximately 2:25 a.m., police said the man, described to be in his 20s, was traveling westbound in a vehicle on Farrington Highway at a high rate of speed. He lost control and veered off the roadway before he crashed into the pole, three-tenths of a mile east of Kualakai Parkway.

Police said speed was factor in the crash.

At 3:07 a.m., police sent out an alert that Farrington Highway between Kualakai Parkway and Old Ft. Weaver Road was closed in both directions. Police reopened the highway at 4:42 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
