Hacked emails show Clinton campaign communicated with State Department

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta spoke to members of the media, on Oct. 5, outside Clinton’s home in Washington.

WASHINGTON » A State Department official appeared to coordinate with Hillary Clinton’s campaign team hours before the former secretary of state’s exclusive use of private emails was first detailed in a news account last year, newly released hacked emails show.

Emails from the files of Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta show that the department official provided Clinton aides with the agency’s official response to a New York Times reporter in advance of the newspaper’s March 2015 report that Clinton had used a private email account to conduct all of her work-related business as secretary.

The stolen emails were released today by WikiLeaks, part of a massive trove of emails released by the document-leaking group on a daily basis since last month. WikiLeaks has indicated it intends to leak emails stolen from Podesta’s account every day through the election.

In a March 1, 2015 email, State Department press aide Lauren Hickey told Clinton’s team that then-State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki had “just cleared” a reply to the Times. Hickey provided the agency’s response to the Clinton aides and also appeared to agree to a change requested by the campaign, saying: “Yes on your point re records – done below.” It is not clear what specific change was requested and made.

State Department spokesman John Kirby said today that the department would not comment on alleged leaked documents. But he said the department’s effort to “provide accurate information to the media” about Clinton’s tenure at the agency has “at times required communicating with her representatives to ensure accuracy.”

The Clinton campaign has repeatedly warned that WikiLeaks has exploited emails stolen by hackers who may be working for the Russian government.

The Podesta emails follow a string of notable illicit caches released during the 2016 election campaign, including thousands of messages stolen from the Democratic National Committee and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. The FBI has opened a criminal investigation into the DNC thefts, but U.S. intelligence agencies are firmly pointing to the Russian government.

In a hacked email chain from March 17, 2015, Clinton’s campaign advisers discussed how to respond to a request by a Times reporter for comment on an upcoming story about how top State Department aides used private email accounts to communicate with Clinton.

Clinton aide Philippe Reines wrote: “There’s a lot to respond to here, but first and foremost the premise is wrong. There is nothing wrong with anyone having personal email addresses or her emailing someone’s private account or vice versa. Maybe she was wishing (longtime aide) Jake (Sullivan) a happy birthday. Or I was sending her a note about her mom. … We’re allowed to have personal lives.”

Campaign spokewoman Jennifer Palmieri wrote: “Strikes me as a big problem that the NYT is having selected emails leaked to them and I think we should do a call to discuss the proper way to handle.”

Associated Press writers Russ Bynum and Matthew Lee contributed to this story.

Trump said: “If John Podesta was my Campaign Manager,he would’ve been fired so fast!”.
Why does Hillary keep this wounded horse? He’s doing more damage than good for Hillary’s campaign….go figure.

    • wn says:

No need fire…keep ’em around just continue the “Deny, Deflect and Demean”…the Liberal Party’s (D) mantra…endless loop. 🙂

    • kuroiwaj says:

IRT MoiLee, fully agree with your post. The Ms Hillary’s campaign also coordinated with the Justice Department together with the State Department. Wonder how Klastri and Ike are taking all this data becoming public with them unquestioned supporters of the Clinton Presidential Campaign? Wonder how GEN Powell’s reputation is now being dragged in the mud with the Clinton’s? Wonder if Sen. Kaine would like his name tied in with Clinton?

      • dragoninwater says:

Klastri a.k.a. cellodad and Ike are all on the phone with HQ at the DNC asking what to post to the threads. They have a paid blogger quota they need to meet or they don’t get paid for the day.

        • bumbai says:

they are lost without their instructions from Donna Brazile…the wheels are coming off the Sh*t truck.

      • Ronin006 says:

And let’s not forget how the Clinton campaign communicated and colluded with the DNC to defeat Bernie Sanders in the not-so-Democratic primary election.

Hmm, sounds like what might be the difference between what the Clinton team said was on the 30,000 bleached emails they refused to hand over to Congress, and what might have actually been on them?

    • etalavera says:

Love how the Clinton campaign tries to get the State Department to cover for them. Of course is okay to use a personal email address for personal matters. It is NOT OKAY to use a private unsecured email server for State Dept. business in an attempt to get around FOIA requests while also trafficking classified email.

  3. wn says:

I don’t see a denial…went straight to “deflect” and will probably go to “demean” (Russian). 🙂

  4. saveparadise says:

Mahalo Wikileaks for the expose. Oh, and I guess the Russian government? Nothing is secure on the internet and you should treat your information as such.

  5. samidunn says:

Just like Watergate many of these Clinton associates are going to jail.

  6. Kahu Matu says:

Trump keeps looking better each day, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little, and Hillary is looking worse and worse. Trump is much more competent for the job than Clinton…ugh. I guess I have to vote for Trump.

    • CEI says:

Don’t feel bad about voting for The Donald. Many others are doing so though they are loath to admit it. The wreckage left behind by Barry Hussein coupled with the rotting garbage pile that is the Clintons has opened a lot of eyes. It’s time for all of us to man up and “Make America Great Again”.

  7. NanakuliBoss says:

Trump praying for hacked (stolen) email account. Wiki is a criminal enterprise run by a wanted sexual preditor.

“Wiki is a criminal enterprise run by a wanted sexual preditor.”

NanakuliBully, I wonder if you suffer from severe dyslexia, like the famous devil worshiper whom sold his soul to Santa.

I hope you realize that the only confirmed sex predators in this presidential race are both married to your welfare issuing sugar-mama HitLIARy and Huma.

    • Kalaheo1 says:

Huh, you guys never want to address the issue and instead want to attack others character instead. What do you think of the Clinton campaign coordinating with the State Dept in advance of the New York Times breaking the story on her use of private email server in the basement of her house.

      • hawaiikone says:

You’ll not find any Clintonite of substance responding to your query. Obviously such collusion is totally unacceptable, and in saner times would result in an investigation with significant repercussions. Integrity is a commodity sadly lacking in politics these days, and we’ve become so desensitized that an acceptable rebuttal is yelling that the other team has done worse.

  8. butinski says:

And the list of corruption on HRC’s email and the Clinton Foundation keeps growing and growing. HRC/Bill/Lynch/Brazile/Podesta. Clinton has State Dept, Loretta Lynch so embedded and corrupted that the State Dept is now a joke. Those 39 minutes in private talks between Lynch and Bill Clinton should have disqualified her and she should have been terminated. All these “heads up” to Clinton and her team by folks in high office should be a reminder that the Clinton machine is just plain corrupt. Not dead broke but dead corrupt.

  9. biggerdog says:

Face it the hardcore libs don’t care how much blood is on HRC’s hands. Conservatives always knew the Clinton’s were crooks and liars, now thanks to Assange, the world knows. Hopefully it will make a difference with the independents and be enough to deny the Whitehouse to Hillary.

  10. justmyview371 says:

More Clinton improper and probably conduct. What else is new? She is taking advantage by using the Executive Branch. Trump can’t get the same advantage.

    • dragoninwater says:

So true, not once has Osama Bin Barrack Obama stepped in and offered some assistance to Trump. Shows how desperate the “D” party has become to try to win. At this point it wouldn’t surprise me if Obama goes into the toilet with HitLAIRy and assists her by wiping her a$$ since she’s not physically capable from her health issues while Billy boy is running around the White House looking for another intern to rape. .

      • South76 says:

The Demoncrats sold Obamacare on the Stupidity of the American electorate and they are doing it again to keep the White House so they can hide their wrong doings under the oval office carpet.

  11. LittleEarl_01 says:

I think what’s important is not who hacked the e-mails but what was contained on them.

  12. AieaJon says:

I just hope someone hacks Trump’s personal and campaign emails, and all his associates. I hope someone is working on it. All is fair in love and war. You think Clinton’s is bad, wait to you see Trump.

    • South76 says:

Jon, Jon, Jon, you need to stop drinking the kool aid. If you are talking about his taxes, Trump did not make the convoluted IRS rules, he used them to his advantage. Hillary has been in politics, so she she knows who to blow and who to grease up. She messed up when she decided to set up her own server at home. She messed up when she stood by her man when he went on TV and lied about his sexual exploit with the intern; if she was really a feminist, she should have stood up to him and took him to the cleaners. She has used the “I can’t recall too many times during the FBI investigation regarding her server/e-mails. She could not recall getting in-serviced regarding the different classification of government information; military personnel and government agents with top secret clearance gets in-serviced every year so as to not compromised national security….someone who can’t recall so many important details may be suffering from aged-related DEMENTIA.

“But he said the department’s effort to “provide accurate information to the media” about Clinton’s tenure at the agency has “at times required communicating with her representatives to ensure accuracy.””

Total BS. That’s saying that the State Department is unable to determine Clinton’s tenure at the agency without her help. That’s either admitting how inept they are, very likely, or total BS, more likely. Now the cover up runs so deep it would be interesting to know who’s not involved.

  15. cojef says:

Private server for government use is now coming to roost. Didn’t consider how their internet messages could be comprised and now paying for the expose being released by WikiLeaks. As for Podesta, his connection to a firm that conduct business with Russian oligarchies is now being also exposed. They claim Trumps friendliness with the Putin, yet they were involved in the selling US fissionable raw material mining interests to them through a bank in Kurdistan. Later, Billy visited Kurdistan and 15 minutes lecture and received a fee for a charitable foundation of over a million dollar$. Wonder who are the directors of the foundation?

  16. Ronin006 says:

Klastri, wherever your are, please say again what you have been saying about Hillary winning in a landslide.

    • dragoninwater says:

Klastri and Nani-kool-aid are both busy insulting everyone in other articles this afternoon since they ran out positive things to praise HitLIARy on. I guess when Trump wins Klastri will go back into hiding from the immigration department since her entire hope rides on an illegal alien amnesty program the “D” party is promising them. Sadly, little do these inept cheerleaders know that getting an amnesty plan is harder than finding Leprechauns and Gold at the end of a rainbow.
