Chanel opens first shoe salon at Ala Moana
Chanel opened its first U.S. boutique in Hawaii on Sept. 1, 1984, in Ala Moana Center. And while there are many other cities across the globe that can lay claim to the title of most fashionable city, the luxury-goods company saw no reason to break from tradition when it chose to open its first free-standing shoe salon where history was made 32 years ago.
The new Chanel Shoe Salon opened its doors today at Ala Moana, across from the original Chanel boutique, which also celebrated its grand reopening with the debut of Chanel’s 2016-17 Cruise Cuba collection.
While there have been temporary pop-up Chanel shoe events over the years in Paris and other cities, the Hawaii store is the first permanent site to carry the brand’s full range of footwear, including booties and high boots for winter, holiday sandals, dress sneakers, ballerina slippers and loafers.
