High surf at Waimea Bay on Tuesday.

Although an earlier high surf warning has been canceled, large surf is still expected to pound the north and west shores of most isles.

A high surf advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. this evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Surf up to 14 to 18 feet is expected today along the north and west shores of Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Hawaii island and Kauai County.

“Expect strong breaking waves and strong currents,” the National Weather Service said in an alert.

“Heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.”
