Eastern shores under high surf advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory until 6 a.m. Tuesday for east-facing shores of most Hawaiian islands.

The weather service forecasts rough surf conditions of 6 to 10 feet with strong breaking waves and rip currents that should make swimming dangerous.

Beach-goers should listen to warnings from ocean safety officials and exercise extreme caution, the weather service said.
