LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. >> The Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach has been seeing some familiar faces in recent weeks as sea lions that have been rehabilitated and released return to the center for new ailments.

The Orange County Register reports that the center is treating two sea lions — named Cliffhanger and Avocado — that had previously been released. Cliffhanger was found draped in a drift gillnet in November and Avocado was found emaciated and wounded with a shark bite last month.

In addition to the familiar faces, the center has rescued seven very young pups as of Sunday. Officials say these are the first pups of the season. They were picked up from Orange County beaches after recent winter storms.
