Sophomore opposite Stijn van Tilburg put down 17 kills to lead No. 4 Hawaii to its eighth consecutive victory, a 25-16, 25-19, 25-18 sweep of McKendree in a nonconference volleyball match today in Lebanon, Ill.

Senior hitter Kupono Fey had two of the Rainbow Warriors’ four aces and freshman middle Patrick Gasman was in on five of Hawaii’s first six blocks.

The Warriors (13-2) are off to their best start since also opening 13-2 in 1998. Hawaii finishes out its four-match road trip on Wednesday at Lindenwood (0-10) in St. Charles, Mo.

Senior middle Wyatt Patterson had eight kills for the Bearcats (5-11), who have lost five straight.

Hawaii outblocked McKendree 10.5-6 and finished with a 34-19 edge in digs. Sophomore hitter Brett Rosenmeier and junior libero Tui Tuileta each had eight digs for the Warriors.
