UC Riverside rips Hawaii in baseball

The Rainbow Warriors dropped the second game of the series at UC Riverside, splitting the series as the Highlanders turned a pair of big innings into a 9-2 victory on Friday.

Michael Farris hit a three-run homer and Ryan Lillie pitched seven effective innings to lead UC Riverside to a 9-2 baseball victory over the University of Hawaii today at Riverside Sports Complex.

The Highlanders ended an eight-game losing streak and evened the three-game series at a victory apiece. The series finale is Saturday at 10 a.m. Hawaii time.

Lillie, who was recruited as a catcher, allowed five hits and struck out eight in seven innings. The Rainbow Warriors stranded runners at second and third in the sixth and seventh innings.

Dominic DeMiero started for UH, but was pulled after three inning. He had allowed four hits and two runs, one of them earned.
