High surf pounded Makapuu. Weather officials posted a high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of all islands this morning, effective through Tuesday afternoon.

Continuing strong tradewinds are bringing high surf and scattered showers to all islands, at least the first half of the week.

Weather officials posted a high surf advisory for the east-facing shores of all islands this morning, effective through Tuesday afternoon. Forecasters expect surf up to 6 to 8 feet along affected shores.

The National Weather Service said radar this morning showed “numerous” showers over the Hilo side of Hawaii island, scattered showers over the Hana side of Maui and isolated showers over other areas.

The tradewinds are expected to weaken for the second half of the week as a front approached from the northeast, according to weather officials.
