Firefighters extinguish Hawaii Kai brush fire
Honolulu firefighters are monitoring a Hawaii Kai brush fire today after crews extinguished it during the early morning hours.
Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. David Jenkins said the fire scorched approximately 20 acres in Kamilonui Valley. The fire started at about 5 p.m. Wednesday and was extinguished by 2 a.m. today.
There were no reports of damage or immediate threat to any homes or structures.
Jenkins said there are still some smoldering spots and that fire department’s Air 1 helicopter is expected to conduct an aerial assessment today.
