Former Hawaii defensive back Dejaun Butler was invited to the New Orleans Saints summer training camp after participating in their mini-camp.

Former University of Hawaii defensive back Dejaun Butler has been invited to the New Orleans Saints’ training camp this summer.

This past weekend, Butler participated in the Saints’ mini camp as undrafted free agent.

After the audition, Butler met with Saints coach Sean Payton.

“He said he’s bringing me back,” Butler said, adding, “he wanted to see me in pads this summer, so that’s why I got invited back to camp.”

Butler will compete as a defensive back and special-teams player.

At Payton’s recommendation, Butler will train for the next month at Unbreakable Performance Center is Los Angeles. Fox NFL analyst Jay Glazer and former MMA star Randy Couture own the center, which specializes in training football players in MMA-styled workouts.
