Flood advisory issued for Hawaii island

Radar indicated heavy rain spreading over the leeward areas of North Kona and South Kohala and across the Hilo and Puna districts.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for Hawaii island until 9:00 tonight.

At 7 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain spreading over the leeward areas of North Kona and South Kohala and across the Hilo and Puna districts. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour in some locations.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Hilo, Kailua-Kona, and Mountain View.

This advisory may need to be extended if heavy rain persists.
