Hawaii players celebrate their win in the third set of the Western Carolina vs Hawaii women’s volleyball match at Stan Sheriff Center tonight.

Junior hitter McKenna Granato put down eight kills and the Hawaii volleyball team avoided its first ever 0-4 start by sweeping Western Carolina 25-15, 25-14, 25-13 in tonight’s second match of the 30th Hawaiian Airlines Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Freshman middle Sky Williams was in on five of the Rainbow Wahine’s 13 blocks and sophomore setter Norene Iosia had three of the team’s seven aces.

Iosia added a double-double with 22 assists and 13 digs.

Hawaii (1-3) will take on South Dakota in Friday’s second match.

In today’s first match, the Coyotes (1-3) were swept by No. 22 Utah (3-1), 25-22, 25-10, 25-15.

Friday’s 4:45 p.m. opener has the Utes meeting the Catamounts.
